ICAC Accredited Programs

Electronics Technicians Association, International (ETA-I)

Certified Electronics Technician - Industrial Technician

The CET with IND specialty has knowledge and abilities in the installation and servicing of industrial electronics equipment. These include CNC, process control, AC and DC motors, programmable logic controllers and other computerized equipment used in industrial settings. This technician also is required to have a basic understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics.

Certified Electronics Technician - PCS-C (Cellular Telephone)

The PCS-C certified technician has abilities to install and service personal communications service and cellular telephone products. He or she is able to utilize common test equipment used in tuning and servicing transceivers and is able to solve problems associated with trunked wireless communications systems. He or she is capable of determining faults in microphones, speakers, cabling, power connections and sources.

Certified Electronics Technician - Radar Technician

The CET with RAD specialty has an understanding of RADAR transceiver equipment operation and theory. He or she knows the safety rules for working with electrical equipment and high-powered transmitters. Frequencies used, waveguide theory, timing circuits, block diagram and schematic understanding are needed. Needs to understand different types of displays and how they work and to be familiar with weather, distance, false return signal causes, and equipment limitations.

Certified Electronics Technician - Telecommunications Technician

The TELECOM CET works wit telephone and data communications hardware and wiring systems. Must understand the limitations of different types of copper, coaxial, and fiber optics cables. Must have an understanding of signal compression and popular methods of modulation used in modern telecommunications equipment and to be able to use test equipment common to the field.

Certified Electronics Technician - Wireless Communication Technician

A CET with WC specialty installs, maintains and troubleshoots two-way radio communications systems in mobile and fixed locations. Must have a basic knowledge of the theory of operation, block diagrams and schematics, set-up procedures, and troubleshooting methods used. Understands wave propagation theory as well as antennas an transmission lines. Is knowledgeable regarding safety procedures for heights and tower work.

Certified Fiber Optics Installer - CFOI

The fiber optics installer is capable of installing fiber optics cables for communications systems. CFOIs are adept at splicing, connectorization and  troubleshooting faults in the cable. They can calculate the required light signal source requirement as well as measure losses in dBs in a system . They are knowledgeable regarding the wavelengths utilized by fiber systems and in the use of optical fault finding equipment. They are trained in the safety aspects of working with glass and plastic fibers.

* NOTE: To be certified as a Certified Electronics Technician, or CET, a technician must pass both the Associate Exam and the Specialty exam of his choice. In some cases a technician may pass the Specialty exam only, thereby being certified by ETA as not a CET, but (for example) a CST, CSI, CNCT or CNST (which are the four categories allowing this type of specialty certification).
