10 questions to consider are:

 

  1. Are the exhibits presented to the evaluation team complete and do they satisfy the requirements for accreditation review?
  2. Are the policies and procedures of the association's certification program fair, reasonable and free from discrimination?
  3. Do the certification requirements, education, experience, examinations and references give reasonable assurance that those being certified will be able to perform at the certification level in question?
  4. Is the association conducting its business in accordance with its established by-laws, policies and procedures?
  5. Is there a grievance or appeals procedure?
  6. Does the association provide a channel for those holding the certification to provide input to the certification process?
  7. Does the association keep secure and reportable records?
  8. Does the association provide documentation or means so that those certified can offer evidence of this certification to whomever at a fair and reasonable cost?
  9. Are the certification fees fair and reasonable?
  10. Is the certification program developed and maintained by individuals determined to be competent in the field using standard practices for certification development?
